For my last blog a friend of mine helped me out with the whole buy a domin, hosting and install wordpress thing. But now for this one i had to go at it alone and boy did i have a hard time. Now I am no computer expert but i do know how to search for stuff so looking here and there i managed to get this whole thing done. Now all I did was installation and basic tweaking.
For the domain hunting/buying i used godaddy, i asked around and almost everyone agreed that it was the most “user friendly” if we can call it that, to me it´s more like user UNfriendly. It overwhlems you with useless extras that they want you to buy that its hard to find the link that says checkout. Kinda like a Vegas casino where you wanna go but can´t find the exit, only rows and rows of slot machines.
After buying my domain off we go to buy the hosting plan, no be prepared to pay a whole lotta cash for this one. I paid $50USD for the cheapest hosting plan available (which is more than enough for me). After that its WP install time, had to do it twice since the first one didn´t work.
With worpdress working just fine it was time to pick a theme. In my last blog i used one called The Morning After and wow it was fully customizable full of features like asides, featured post, etc etc. But it was far too complicated for a casual non-html blogger like me so this time i decided to give a less complex theme a chance so i wound up with this one. It´s dark but not too dark, crisp, clean and it has a menu on top which i can use to unclutter my sidebar.
I´m still fine tuning this whole thing so any comments on how to make this a better blog sure are welcome. In the meantime, have fun!
cheers!!
Why would someone need a personal blog? I have some a little experience as a blogger, as i have had another blog called AutoAdiccion (it´s in spanish since its a blog about cars here in Mexico) but there was something missing. I´ve been using twitter for some time now but i find myself needing more text to say what i want. So what i can´t blog about in my other blog and what i can´t put in twitter i intend to put here. I see this as a place to expand a bit more on the ideas that i have here rolling around in my head.
Cheers!
